(DVD covers for SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET)
Once we're giving you an update on one of our favorite films of 2007,
which is Tim Burton's film adaptation of SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON
BARBER OF FLEET STREET. If you haven't seen this film yet, then you're
missing out on a very good time, which is why we're recommending the
SWEENEY TODD DVD for your collection. On
April 1st Paramount Home
Entertainment will be releasing 1-disc and 2-disc special editions of
SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET. You can take a
look at the covers up above. The previously announced HD DVD version
of the film has official been scrapped. This is due to the fact that HD
DVD is a dying format. Little is unknown if there will be a Blu-ray version
in the works. Based on the hit Broadway musical, after being sent away
by Judge Turpin, Sweeney Todd a.k.a Benjamin Barker returns to London
with the help of a sailor, Anthony Hope. He opens a barber shop above
Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pie Shop, where she sells "the worst pies in London."

With the help of Mrs. Lovett, Todd means to rid London of the corrupt
aristocracy, and hopes to be reunited with his daughter, Johanna, who is
now Judge Turpin's ward. The film itself will be presented in anamorphic
widescreen, along with an English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround track. The
only extra feature on the 1-disc release will be a Burton + Depp + Carter
= Todd featurette. The 2-disc will include that, along with 8 additional
featurettes (Sweeney Todd is Alive: The Real History of the Demon
Barber, Musical Mayhem: Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, Sweeney's London,
The Making of Sweeney Todd The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Grand
Guignol: A Theatrical Tradition, Designs for a Demon Barber, A Bloody
Business, and The Razor's Refrain), a Moviefone Unscripted with Tim
Burton and Johnny Depp feature, a Sweeney Todd Press Conference, a
photo gallery, and the trailer. You can pre-order SWEENEY TODD: THE
DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET over at
