Put on your tuxedos and your dresses, because this week we're
going back to the prom with Sony Pictures' remake of the 80's
slasher PROM NIGHT. Considering that the original film wasn't all that
great, we're not expecting much from this new adaptation. The
rating doesn't help either. Normally when a PG-13 rated horror film
comes out, we hope to god that it's not too horrible. In this case,
we could care less. It is a slasher film, but from seeing the
commercials and trailers (not to mention the look of the cast) you
can easily tell that it's being marketed towards a younger audience.
The MTV kids will be having their day at the theatre this Friday.
If you're not a fan of modern day teen-horror flicks, then we
suggest you focus more on what's coming out on DVD. The top
release we're anxious to own on DVD is P2 (review). This thriller
made it to theatres late last year, and unlike most of the thrillers
from last year we actually enjoyed this one. Also hitting DVD shelves
tomorrow are THE CELLAR DOOR, CRUEL WORLD, the horrible DAY OF
TE DEAD remake (review), the HD DVD release of I AM LEGEND,
MAGUS, MEMOIRS OF THE EVIL DEAD, THE NANNY and THE RED
