Andrea Dean Van Scoyoc is an accomplished Horror Sinisteria
author living in Tampa, Florida. Shes been writing for over twenty
years and has a huge heart for her fans.
HF: How long does it take you to write and illustrate a book?

Andrea: It takes me a year or two to write a book (luckily I have all of my
novels already done for the most part) and being as all I have is cover art, I
have my cover artist Jonathan Fesmire do that for me. He also does the
covers of my magazine.

HF: Oh really, you have your own magazine? Please explain

Andrea: I sure do! It's called Twisted Dreams Magazine and caters to all
things dark, gothic, bizarre and just plain weird. I accept short stories, poetry,
non fiction, articles, rants, editorials, artwork, and ads.

I take what I like, and make no apologies for it. I could not care less what
other magazines accept, what they think a horror magazine should be or
anything else. I don't do what is popular, never have and never will. I do things
my own way, my magazine is no exception.

HF: According to your site you've been writing for over 20 years. What advice
can you offer to all the new writers out there?

Andrea: Yes, I have been writing for over 20 years, but only got serious
about getting published in the last 7.

The best advice I can give people is to "NEVER GIVE UP!" No matter how
many hurdles you have to jump, mountains you have to climb, no matter how
many walls you hit, never give up. People will criticize you, they will want you
to fail.

There will always be assholes out there whose careers went nowhere and so
they want yours to go nowhere as well. They will harass you day and night,
and attempt to make you quit because they sucked and just couldn't admit it,
and their careers were a dead end.

Laugh it off, and keep writing.

HF: I've always been very curious about this when writers have book signings,
whats it like having to sign books for your fans? How does it make you feel?

Andrea: It is a feeling like no other, honestly. My fans are my life and they are
everything to me. To have a fan, buy MY book, when they could just stick with
who is popular...and then to have them tell me that I have changed their life, I
am their inspiration and that they love what I write and can't wait until my next
book comes out...it's a feeling that can't be put into words.

HF: For many years we've had so many movies adaptions based on hit
books. What would it be like to see one of your books end up on film?

Andrea: Well actually I am in the early stages right now of negotiations with a
motion picture company to make both of my novels "The Two," and "A Man
of Two Worlds" into movies. If we can get everything together, you just might
see BOTH of my novels on the screen!

Keep your fingers crossed!

HF: I definitely will! I wish you the best of luck with all that. Now this is a
question i've asked everyone at least once, Whats your favorite horror film
and why?

Andrea: Thanks! I'm remaining hopeful that things will work out. It is my
ultimate dream to have at least "A Man of Two Worlds" on the screen, in any
capacity.

Ahhh, my favorite horror movie is still and always will be, the original "Dawn of
The Dead" with "Resident Evil Apocalypse" in a very close second.

The original "Dawn" is just a great all around movie and in my opinion, the feel
of the movie is real. Sure, the make up isn't all that hot, but think of when it
was filmed! The acting however, portrays a real sense of doom and
hopelessness. For the time, it was WAY ahead of its time. Romero was, is and
always will be "THE MAN."

HF: I highly agree! Well Andrea it was great talking to you, you're a real
sweetheart and its a pleasure having to interview you. I wish you the best in
everything that you're doing, im sure everyone is going to dig A Man of Two
Worlds and I think it would be lovely to see it on screen.

Andrea: Thank you! This has been so much fun and I can't thank you enough
for taking the time to interview me.

HF: Before we head out, do you have anything to say to all the horror fanatics
out there?

Andrea: You guys are awesome! Thanks for the support, keep it horrific, keep
it fun and buy my books and come see my movies when they are released!

Shadowed Graces...
The End!
