Review:

Thats right ladies and gentleman another independent horror review. This
time its for Ron Decaro's short film called Eating Razors (A Love Story). In
this film we follow a man named Trent. A man who is still haunted from the
memory of his wife who passed away 2 years before. Trent struggles
everyday and numbs the pain with alcohol. Now with no job and very little
money, Trent and his good friend Chad go out to score some more booze
and plan to have a good time. Later on Trent starts to look around and he
notices things aren't what they seem. So Trent does what he can to be
reunited with his dead wife in one of the sickest ways possible. Eating
Razors is a pretty cool and very interesting movie. I loved the bloody
opening credits and how the entire film was shot. Watching this movie is
like viewing one giant nightmare. There are tons of flashes and small dark
segments with nice creepy music and a lot of blood.

We journey with a broken down character as he slowly drinks his life away
and we see that he isn't a happy guy at all. In a way its pretty tragic to see
someone go through that kind of pain. But whats even more tragic is how
people deal with the pain. Some smoke, some drink and some just give up
and end their own lives. If I were to explain this movie in one sentence I
would say that its about a man slowly killing himself, and thats just what it
is. This movie goes straight to the point and doesn't cut short on the
blood and can be pretty hard to watch if you try and picture yourself in the
characters situation. I must say its some messed up stuff. As I mentioned
before this is a short film. It only runs for about 30 minutes but its not
much of a bad thing. I think the timing fit pretty well for this story, if it
were any longer it might have dragged. But the timing is just right and I
didn't have much of a problem with it. The way the film was put together is
pretty creative. In some scenes the colors change and the camera is shaky.
The main character in this film starts to loose it after awhile and you can
really see it all happening. All that plus the creepy music give it that
nightmarish feeling and in parts it gets pretty intense. All this happens
through most of the film and like I said before its like viewing one giant
nightmare.

I guess it would have been nice if it was a longer movie, but its not much of
a problem. The timing is pretty good and there aren't dull or repetitive
parts. This DVD is definitely worth checking out though. The bonus
features in this movie are great. The interactive menus are really cool and
happen to be some of the best I've seen from an independent film. One of
the features has cast and crew interviews where everyone behind the
project sits down and answers questions. Then there are outtakes which
are funny as hell. Also one of the biggest features on here is the 2 short
films by Ron Decaro. Which includes the original 5 minute cut of the film
and a small preview to another film called the Pustual (trust me its as
disgusting as it sounds). This film was made to put a maximum shock
value on such a low budget, which Ron Decaro explains on another one of
the special features. Well ill be one of the first to say, IT WORKED. This is
some pretty sick stuff.

Overall this is a fun and entertaining movie. This indie horror flick goes
straight to the point and is like one giant nightmare. The opening credits
are cool, theres a  lot of blood, the music is good and the bonus features
on the DVD are good. Not to mention the ending has some pretty funny
parts. Sure its a short movie but its still worth picking up on DVD. The
bonus features alone are worth the money. The interactive menus look
great, the cast and interviews are cool, the outtakes are hilarious and the 2
short film previews are pretty fucking gross. This is a movie I recommend
that every horror fan should at least see once. The movie deals with real
life situations and can be pretty hard to watch if the thought of eating
razors creeps you out. Unless you're like me, thats the beauty of it all. My
best advice is while you watch this movie just try picturing yourself doing
all the crazy shit that the main character does. Try and see if it doesn't
creep you out in some way. Just remember ladies and gentlemen, whatever
you do don't try any of the stuff that you see in this movie at home,
unless you love the thought of being dead.
