Synopsis: Five Canadian filmmakers set out on a supernatural expedition
to film a documentary on the Saratoga Homestead Asylum. Unfortunately
only four of the crew members exited the building the next morning. After
an extensive search of the premises and surrounding area, authorities
ruled out foul play. New Blood Entertainment compiled and edited all actual
footage with re-enactment sequences to reveal in detail what occurred on
that cold Halloween night.
Review:
From the get go this movie tells you it is based on a real incident that
happened in an empty, old mental asylum up in Saratoga NY. A group of
people went there with the intent of making a documentary on the place
and hoped to witness the place up close and personal- all but one make it
out. You learn that the asylum used to house TB patients and children to
insane people, I just can't remember in which order. This movie moves slow
so if you have patience issues don't turn it on. Now me, I love old buildings
and mental asyluma are a top priority in my book. My cousin and I used to
have her boyfriend Mark drive us over to the abandoned Lakeland Mental
Asylum. It is amazing to be inside those walls with the hopes of finding
something really cool or wondering if that burning in our lungs was
espestes or not! Some people are just not into this sort of thing it's all
just a matter of opinion.
I liked it's Blair Witch appeal and being like a fly on the wall the whole time
watching them trying to find their friend Tom who they can hear but just
can't locate him. The group spends hours looking for him but all they find
is a sneaker, then a glove but never him. It's eerie hearing him calling for
help and them desperately searching for him. Will they ever figure out what
happened to him or will it forever remain a mystery? The police just weren't
buying their story but what could they hold them for when there was no
body? This documentary is going to spawn a whole new era of urban
explorers who will stop at nothing to get inside that place, I am even
tempted myself. The asylums caretaker with the fro on was out of place on
here and makes you think it's a hoax...but is it?
