Review:

People often talk about the "curse of the sequels." To be quite honest I'm not a
big fan of that saying. I don't think that all sequels are bad, but then again
that's just the way it is. The movie I'm reviewing for you today is a sequel. It's
the sequel to my favorite horror film, Halloween. After the success of Halloween
John Carpenter and Debra Hill went on to make the movie The Fog. Soon after
that it wasn't that surprising when Carpenter started writing a sequel to his big
hit. This film struck theatres back in 1981, with some old faces returning to the
big screen. In this film we are also introduced to a new cast of characters,
mainly women playing nurses. In the original film Michael Myers was shot 6
times by his doctor, which left him lifeless on the ground. But when his doctor
goes out to check on his body, there is nothing there but blood. It turns out
that Michael escapes once again, and this time we journey with him as he goes
out and kills more people, all in the search for his sister Laurie Strode.

After the events of the first film, Laurie is left in the hospital for recovery,
drowning in fear that the boogeyman would come back to get her. 1 thing that
I have noticed about these Halloween films is that it has a reputation for having
tons of errors and mistakes. Right from the very beginning of this movie, you
may notice a little mistake in which Dr. Loomis was said to have shot Michael
Myers 6 times. Well in the original film yes that is true, but somehow in the
beginning to this movie Dr. Loomis shoots Michael 7 times. Which was
something that I didn't get. Later on we follow Michael Myers as he is
wondering around the streets of Haddonfield, hiding behind bushes and
houses, killing off more innocent people. His doctor Sam Loomis alerts the
police that Myers is on the loose and will most likely kill again. Believe it or not,
he is right. As with most sequels this movie has a higher body count, the
victims this time are mainly nurses who work at the hospital. But is it me or are
there barely anybody working at the hospital? To think that hospitals are
always filled up with doctors and nurses, in this movie there are so little people
working at the hospital. When you think about it that’s kind of weird.

But aside from all the errors everything else about this movie is flawless. The
acting in the movie is great, Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode,
the scared to death babysitter from the first movie. Not to mention Donald
Pleasance returns as Michael's doctor Sam Loomis. Charles Cyphers also comes
back in this movie as Sheriff Leigh Brackett. Also Nancy Stephens has a little
cameo reprising her role as Marion Chambers, Dr. Loomis's nurse from the first
movie. This movie is pretty different from the first film, the original film didn't’t
rely on any pop-up scares, as in this movie there are quite a few of those. But
have no fear, some of the same tricks that were used in the first movie are in
here as well. Also the music in this movie is slightly different. John Carpenter
and Alan Howarth worked on the music together for this film. Call me crazy, but
I like the music in this movie better than the music in the first film. The music in
this movie seems much more darker and creepy. Also the death scenes in this
movie are more horrifying. Of course when you have a bigger body count, the
death scenes have to be more gruesome.

There is one scene in particular where a woman is burnt to death by hot boiling
water, which looks just plain awesome. But what fascinates me the most about
this film is of course the plot. When John Carpenter was writing this movie, he
decided to add in a little twist, in which we find out that Laurie Strode is actually
the younger sister of Michael Myers. Which really makes a lot of  sense if your
wondering why the boogey man is after young Laurie strode in the first place. I
guess you can say that the boogey man has a grudge against his family.
Overall this is a good movie, the acting is great, the music is flawless, and it
definitely feels like a true sequel. If you have seen the original Halloween, then
this movie is a must see. Just try really hard to ignore all the mistakes.
