Review:

What do you get when you mix romance, comedy, horror, a little suspense,
and a crap load of flesh eating zombies? Well my friends the answer is Shaun
of the Dead. This is a movie that has just about everything. This is the film
that struck theatres back in April in the UK, and it became a smash hit. Some
even consider this movie an "instant zombie classic". Now that I finally got
the chance to check it, I would have to agree. This is one of those films that
will stay in your head for many many days. This movie has just about
everything you would want from a horror/comedy. Cool jokes, lovable
characters, other zombie movie references, old school ZOMBIE GORE, and an
interesting love story to go with it. The film is about a man named Shaun,
who is pretty much your average joe. He has a job, a girlfriend, a really lazy
friend, and a low tempered roommate. Sooner or later, things just go
downhill and Shaun just has a terrible day. His girlfriend breaks up with him,
and he goes out drinking to deal with the pain. Throughout his shitty day, he
notices strange things happening around him.

The next day he wakes up and realizes that people around him aren’t exactly,
"alive". So he teams up with his lazy friend, his ex girlfriend, his mom, and a
couple of other friends as they battle their way through the undead in hopes
of survival. For a horror/comedy, this movie really had me laughing. One scene
in particular had my stomach hurting from all the comedy. The humor in this
film is smart and definitely well timed. Not to mention if you are a zombie fan,
then you may notice some other zombie movie references. You may notice
some familiar music, familiar names, and even a line about rage infested
monkeys. So definitely watch out for the other zombie movie references. The
characters in this movie were pretty cool as well, there’s the main character
Shaun, his slacker buddy, the ex girlfriend, the ex's friends, and also Shaun's
mother Barbera. All the acting in the film was done very well, and it definitely
gave a good tone to the film.

This movie isn’t all comedy. The humor is great, but there are also parts of
the film that are pretty serious. The world is being infested with zombies, and
yes these are the slow zombies that we all know and love. Pretty much your
Romero "shoot them in the head" type of zombies. Which was a HUGE plus
because I'm definitely not a big fan of the running/hyperactive zombies that
you see in the Dawn of the Dead remake. These zombies are slow, and they
pack a huge taste for human flesh. What do you mostly expect from a
zombie movie beside the zombies themselves? GORE! That’s right, this movie
has a good amount of gore in it. You get to see flesh eatings, head shots,
and even people being ripped apart old school style! Which was the biggest
plus for me because I love gore. So just a quick warning for you parents out
there, please don’t take your children to see this movie.

So yeah I really enjoyed the movie a lot, it was a fun and entertaining thrill
ride. Plenty of comedy & great zombie gore. What more could you ever ask
for? Shaun of the Dead made zombies fun again. Well the critics have been all
over this film, and some consider it an instant zombie classic. I would  have
to agree with that, this movie has just about everything you could ever want.
If you like comedies, then you’re going to like it. If you like zombie films, then
you’re going to love it. I highly recommend this movie for all you zombie
fanatics out there. Shaun of the Dead is a really fun and entertaining movie
which pays glorious tribute to George Romero and many zombie films from
the past. It's one of those movies that will remain in genre history.
