Review:

Usually I enjoy writing negative reviews. They can fun, especially because I love to
insert jokes into them. I like making fun of bad movies, but this is another one of
those special cases. As hard as I may try, I can't make fun of Soul Searchers. I'm
lost here, truly lost. This is going to be a tough review to write. I'm not exactly
sure what I just watched. There were so many things wrong about this movie that
I can't really find the words to explain exactly how I feel. This has happened
before, and I'm sure I'll be working on this write up for the next few days. Soul
Searchers is just one of those movies I would recommend skipping. But hey lets
look at the bright side here. I have my own personal tastes, I even enjoy some
movies that other people hate or can't stand. Basically what I'm saying is that Soul
Searchers can be enjoyable, it  just depends on the individual who is watching it.
Am I being a little too nice? Perhaps so, but I can't argue with the fact that it's
possible. Soul Searchers isn't all bad, but it's not very good either.

In the movie we follow a man named Charlie Carter. Charlie Carter is lonely, lost
and alone. Luckily for him all of that was about to change. After making a fresh
start by moving to a different city, Charlie receives an invitation to a strip club.
Charlie then goes to the strip club and meets up with supposedly old friends. They
keep in contact of course and before you know it, Charlie is invited to a social
gathering. Charlie heads to a party with his friends. At the party he meets and falls
in love with the woman of his dreams. Charlie feels that he is in heaven... Or so he
thinks. Charlie then leaves with the lady to another town to visit her family, only to
realize that things aren't really as they seem. Soon his reality unravels as he is
caught in a web of lies, lust, betrayal and sacrifice. With Charlie's sanity and life on
the line, he is forced to go through the ultimate test... Remembering who he really
is.

You see that? That's where the movie is down right confusing. It goes from one
direction to another. This prevented me from keeping focus. I didn't know where
the movie was going. You go from one setting to the next and you won't be able
to guess where the main character will end up. He could've ended up in Mexico and
it still woudn't have made the movie any more better to watch. You see him in an
apartment, you see him in a club. Then you see him in a party where he meets with
a beautiful woman. Then the couple end up going to another town. The main
character goes on quite an adventure and I'm completely shocked that he didn't
hire a tour guide (hey, I found a place to put in humor). Although this isn't a bad
thing, the movie looked a lot like one of those late night Showtime adult programs.
The look of the film is just fine, I had no complaints. That "showtime" comment
was just to give you an idea as to what the movie looks like. The acting in the
movie is fair to say the least. I'm unsure as to how much experience these actors
have and I give them the benifit of the doubt for having to put in so much effort
and time into making this movie work.

Sadly the movie as a whole doesn't work. Then things start to get really weird. For
example; This is the first time I've ever seen a man smoke a cigarette in the
shower (while dancing). As strange as it may appear, you wont find any humor in
its randomness. The movie has it's weird moments where things get funny for the
wrong reasons. I don't know if that's what they were trying to go for, but it's just
painful to watch. I don't blame the director, I blame some of the dialog and acting.
Watching this movie made me want to vent out my frustrations. All the bad things
in my life just so happened to be on my mind by the time the movie was over. To
hell with this, I shouldn't even be here right now reviewing this movie. I should be
doing better things with my life. In case you haven't noticed from my review, this
movie isn't great. I didn't get it, it was confusing from the start and it's painful to
watch in parts. It's not perfect but what movie isn't? Actually Soul Searches isn't
all bad (or is it?). The filming locations are great, the town in which most of the film
takes place isn't all that bad. Some of the imagery is fantastic, I will admit that. But
the story just takes way too long to get to the point, and that is the main issue.

It does have it's moments and you actually get to see Billy Drago on screen. Billy is
a great actor and his creepy presence made the ending worth watching. Speaking
of the ending, this movie also had a very neat twist. It's not spectacular or ground
breaking but its plays out nicely near the end. It even makes sense even though it
drags greatly near the end of the movie. The rest is complete history, I cant think
of anything else positive to say about this movie. I wouldn't recommend it to be
honest. Just writing a review for it is making me feel uncomfortable. Usually I have
a lot of fun when it comes to writing negative reviews. This is a rare moment when
I'm not enjoying writing a review for a bad movie. This movie doesn't need to be in
every horror collection. But hey that's just me, we all have different tastes and I'm
sure others out there may enjoy it. I just can't picture this movie being for sale in
stores. This needs to be screened on television somewhere. Soul Searchers should
be worthy enough for the Sc-Fi channel. Not that the Sci-Fi channel is a bad thing,
I just can't see this movie going anywhere else.
