"The trailer reflects that, showing the major players of the film in some
pretty defining shots. At the same time, I wanted the clip to be a 'teaser' in the truest
sense of the word and not give away too many details of the plot."

visitor at a women's academy where female empowerment is taken to murderous extremes.

WOMEN'S STUDIES writer/director Lonnie Martin, and co-stars Judith O'Dea, Cindy Marie
Martin, and Tara Garwood will participate in a live interview on Blog Talk Radio's Movie
Geeks United! broadcast this Wednesday, July 18, at 10pm (EST). The show can be
accessed in live or archived format at
blogtalkradio.com. WOMEN'S STUDIES, which began
shooting this month and has already been prominently featured by the likes of Fangoria
magazine and JoBlo's Arrow in the Head website, tells the story of a pregnant grad student
and her friends who are held captive at a women's academy that is populated by a cult of
feminists bent on the enslavement of men. More than a typical horror film, Women's
Studies harkens to the classic genre pictures that relished in subversive social
commentary, as it presents an intelligent look at group think, women's issues, and how
blind belief in a one-sided dogma can create a terrorist. Writer/director Lonnie Martin has
written over a dozen scripts for stage and screen.

Through his company, Ningen Manga Productions, Mr. Martin has produced works that
have earned accolades from the Santa Fe Writer's Project, the Source Theatre Festival,
the 48 Hour Film Project, as well as the Temecula Valley and West Chester film festivals.
Actress Judith O'Dea became an integral part of cinematic history with her immortal
portrayal of Barbara in George Romero's 1968 film Night of the Living Dead.  Her resume
includes more than 40 years of extensive credits on film, stage, radio and television.  In
addition, Ms. O'Dea is also an accomplished writer and owner of O'Dea Communications, a
communications consulting and training company. Women's Studies co-star, co-producer
and publicist Cindy Marie Martin has played a variety of roles on stage with the Repertory
Theatre of America, the Elkins Shakespeare Festival, the West End Dinner Theatre, Venus
Theatre, and the Landless Theatre Company, in addition to a series of featured roles on
various short films.

Judith O’Dea, who played the iconic role of “Barbara” in George A. Romero’s 1968 horror
classic, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, has signed on to play the role of Senator Gayle
Hamlin in Ningen Manga Productions’ upcoming social horror film, WOMEN'S STUDIES.
Principal photography is scheduled to begin in July 2007.
“We’re honored that Judith O’Dea
has agreed to be a part of our film,”
says writer/director Lonnie Martin. “Her portrayal of
Barbara in Night of the Living Dead was a huge turning point in the evolution of the
modern horror film heroine. Since our film deals with themes of feminism, gender roles,
and womanhood, we think she’s a perfect fit.”

WOMEN'S STUDIES tells the story of a women's academy which is home to a feminist cult
bent on the destruction of men. Rather than a typical "hack & slash" horror movie,
writer/director, Lonnie Martin, describes it as “an intelligent
“an intelligent look at group
think, women's issues, and how blind belief in any one-sided dogma can create a violent
extremist.”
O’Dea’s character is the mentor to the heroine of Women’s Studies, Mary. At
the beginning of the film, Mary is caught between wanting to continue her political work
for O’Dea’s Senator Hamlin and her boyfriend Zack’s desire to settle down and start a
family.

“Hamlin is a woman who backs up the integrity of her beliefs with her actions,” Martin
explains.
“Her desire to see social change mirrors Mary’s. The question becomes one of
how far each woman may be willing to go to make that change happen.”
O’Dea was on
Martin’s mind when he was casting the role.
“When we at Ningen Manga first started
talking about Hamlin,we knew the role would require a certain level of class and poise,
traits I had admired about Judith O’Dea in NOTLD. Then I saw her performance in Jason
Paul Collum’s October Moon and knew she was perfect. There’s a level of intensity she
delivers that’s impossible to turn away from.”
WOMEN'S STUDIES is slated for a 2008
release.
